Complete Genome Sequence of a Tomato-Infecting Tomato Mottle Mosaic Virus in New York.
The complete genome sequence of an isolate of tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV) infecting tomatoes in New York was obtained using small RNA (sRNA) deep sequencing. ToMMV_NY-13 shared 99% sequence identity with isolates from Mexico and Florida. Broader distribution of this emerging virus is a cause for concern to the tomato industry.
متن کاملDetection of Tobacco mosaic virus and Tomato mosaic virus in pepper and tomato by multiplex RT-PCR.
AIMS To develop a highly sensitive and rapid protocol for simultaneous detection and differentiation of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) in pepper and tomato. In this study, we use the multiplex PCR technique to detect dual infection of these two viruses. METHODS AND RESULTS A multiplex RT-PCR method consisting of one-tube reaction with two primer pairs targeted to re...
متن کاملGenome Sequence of a Tomato-Infecting Tomato Mosaic Virus Isolate from Zimbabwe
A tomato-infecting tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) isolate was detected in Zimbabwe using lateral flow kits and double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Next-generation sequencing and de novo assembly were subsequently performed to determine its genome sequence. The ToMV genome of the Zimbabwe isolate is the second to be reported in Africa.
متن کاملIdentification of Tomato Mosaic Virus Infection in Jasmine
Virus-like symptoms were recently observed on leaves of landscape and nursery downy and star jasmine (Jasminum multijlorum) and wax jasmine (J. gracile) in southeast Florida. Foliar symptoms included mottling, chlorotic ring spots and chlorotic line patterns. An agent was mechanically transmitted with difficulty from symptomatic leaves of downy jasmine to Nicotiana debneyi and N. tabacum 'Xanth...
متن کاملExperiments on the Cultivation of the Active Agent of Mosaic Disease in Tobacco and Tomato Plants
The results of the attempts here described to cultivate the incitant of mosaic disease of tobacco and tomato plants give good reason to suppose that this has been accomplished. The agent in the tissues of affected plants induces the disease not infrequently in a dilution of 1:10,000 but only very rarely at a higher dilution. During its transference from tube to tube of the special medium used i...
